Welcome to Lucy Loves Violet!
I thought it might be interesting to share with you the history of Lucy Loves Violet and our history so far.
I am Rachel, owner of Lucy Loves Violet. I am 41 and live in Altrincham. I am married to Iain and we have 1 daughter, called Violet who is 6 years old. Due to the name of the business, everyone naturally assumes that I am called Lucy, however that isn't the case! Obviously it is named after my daughter Violet. The Lucy part came from a daughter of a friend, however, more recently, Violet adopted a little kitten and named her Lucy, so that is the new explanation of the name!
Sadly in January of this year my Mum passed away after a short battle with cancer and 3 weeks after her passing I was made redundant from my job. It had been my dream for a long time to have my own business so I decided that it was now or never and made the decision to focus on the future and Lucy Loves Violet was born!
Initially, stocking Lindy Bop, Collectif, Voodoo Vixen, Lady V London and Dolly & Dotty, I started just online, but after a few weeks I launched a stall at weekends at Altrincham Market. It was a fantastic way to create Lucy Loves Violet brand awareness and although it could be a bit rainy and chilly at times it was great to meet so many people and help them find just the right dress or outfit for them.
After 2 months at Altrincham Market I was offered a concession boutique inside the iconic Old Post Rooms on Stamford New Road in Altrincham. I opened the Lucy Loves Violet boutique at the end of May and it has gone from strength to strength. I held a launch event at the beginning of July with entertainment by The Glamophones, make up artists and hairdressers to offer mini-vintage make overs and of course goodie bags and prosecco!
In July, I was lucky enough to be able to hold Pop Up Shops at some Rock N Roll Nights in the local area, where I have met some wonderful people and enjoyed watching rock N roll dancing. So far I have attended Rock N Roll Nights at Sale, Wilmslow and Swinton. I hope to attend many more over the next few months. I also introduced some more brands to my collection including Hell Bunny and Hearts & Roses.
So, Lucy Loves Violet has been on quite a journey over the past few months. It is hard to believe that the business was only launched in March! I have met some fabulous customers who have turned into friends (some lovely customers I haven't yet met but they certainly seem like friends!), learned a lot and worked harder than I thought possible! Every order is picked and packed personally by me, every dress is steamed by me before it goes to the shop or pop up shop, every dress is sourced and ordered by me and I run all the LLV Social Media accounts and the website.
It has been so rewarding and I can't wait to see what the next few months have in store. I am looking forward to expanding into vintage and retro weekends - We will have a pop up shop at Vintage By The Sea in Morecambe in September and hopefully many more to come. I will develop the website will continue the pop up shops at Rock N Roll Nights and who knows what else will come along!
I look forward to seeing you all in the Old Post Rooms or at Rock N Roll Nights or perhaps Vintage By The Sea and I hope you will continue to join me on the Lucy Loves Violet journey.
